Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at reshaping or reconstructing the nose. It is commonly known as a "nose job." The procedure can be performed for both cosmetic and functional purposes, depending on the patient's needs and goals.

Cosmetic rhinoplasty in Islamabad focuses on improving the appearance of the nose. It can address various aesthetic concerns such as:

  1. Nose size: Reducing or augmenting the overall size of the nose to achieve better facial harmony.

  2. Nose shape: Changing the shape of the nose to improve proportions, such as removing a hump on the bridge or refining the nasal tip.

  3. Nostril size: Altering the size of the nostrils to make them more balanced and proportionate.

  4. Nasal asymmetry: Correcting any imbalances or deviations in the nose to achieve a more symmetrical appearance.

Functional rhinoplasty, on the other hand, aims to improve nasal breathing and correct functional issues related to the nose. Common functional concerns include:

  1. Deviated septum: The septum is the wall that separates the two nasal passages. If it's deviated, it can obstruct airflow and cause breathing difficulties.

  2. Nasal valve collapse: This can occur when the outer walls of the nose collapse during inhalation, leading to restricted airflow.

  3. Enlarged turbinates: The turbinates are small structures within the nose that help humidify and filter the air. When they are enlarged, they can obstruct nasal airflow.

Rhinoplasty in Islamabad is typically performed by a qualified plastic surgeon or an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist). The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia, and the surgeon makes incisions inside the nose or sometimes on the external skin between the nostrils. Through these incisions, the surgeon can reshape the bone and cartilage to achieve the desired results.

Recovery from rhinoplasty in Islamabad usually involves some swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes. Patients are advised to rest and avoid strenuous activities for a few weeks after the surgery. Most of the swelling will subside within a few weeks, but it can take several months for the final results to become apparent.

As with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks and complications associated with rhinoplasty, such as infection, bleeding, adverse reactions to anesthesia, or unsatisfactory cosmetic results. It's essential to have a thorough consultation with a qualified surgeon to discuss your goals, expectations, and any potential risks before deciding to undergo rhinoplasty.
